Student groups at The University of Findlay have elected presidents for the 2015-2016 academic year. There are more than 80 active clubs, organizations, national honor societies and special interest groups at The University of Findlay.

Students were honored recently by The University of Findlay for their dedication to working as a student employee during the University's annual Student Employee Recognition Luncheon.

Kristen Fraley, a student in the doctor of physical therapy program, was awarded Student Employee of the Year recently at The University of Findlay.

Ten students were named to The University of Findlay's 2014 homecoming court. Dallas Smith was crowned king and Miranda Roehler was crowned queen.

When the Ohio TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) organization recognized the need to better promote itself, Britney Closson stepped up to help.

Joey Rosi has a heart for working with Spanish-speaking patients, which he plans to do as a world-traveling physical therapist. Rosi will graduate this May with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and health science/pre-physical therapy and complete an additional two years in the doctor of physical therapy program at UF.

For Sweta Bharech, UF has always felt like a home away from home. She feels that the special relationships students develop with friends and professors sets UF apart from other colleges.

After one campus tour at The University of Findlay, Megan Cecil knew she would be an Oiler. The animal science and western barns and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in her freshman year were large attractions for her.

During his junior year at The University of Findlay, Mark Frilling was accepted into the University of Toledo's College of Medicine - no small feat, considering that he was one of only 20 students granted early entrance.

After a successful career as an actor, Harry Stockton decided to complete a goal he'd started working on 30 years ago - to earn a bachelor's degree. This May, Stockton will graduate from The University of Findlay with a bachelor of arts degree in theatre performance.

Devon Marti will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science. This fall, she will begin working toward a master's degree in journalism at Columbia College Chicago. Her tuition will be completely paid for through scholarships she received as a result of her experiences and internships that she added to her r?sum? while at Findlay.

"Findlay has been the perfect choice for me," said Danielle Taflinger, a student-athlete who will graduate in May with a degree in intervention specialist education. "I have had such an awesome experience here with academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities. I wouldn't change a thing!"

Chelsea Hall is well on her way to accomplishing goals. As of May, Hall will be the first in her family to earn a bachelor's degree, and she has a job working in her field as a deputy clerk for the Defiance County Probate and Juvenile Court. Also, she will begin studying at the University of Toledo College of Law with an emphasis in family law this fall.

Austin Wilson will graduate in May with a degree in finance and international business, and he's already putting his knowledge to good use as a financial analyst at Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. in Findlay, where he will remain as a full-time employee following graduation.

Students from The University of Findlay recently attended the 2014 National Block and Bridle Convention in Springfield, Mo. Eleven students attended, and the group earned a second-place award for website design.

More than 300 students participated.

Drew Bihary, a senior majoring in environmental safety and occupational health management, was awarded Student Employee of the Year at The University of Findlay during an awards luncheon April 7. Bihary also received the State of Ohio Student Employee of the Year honor.

More than 55 students participated in The University of Findlay's Physical Therapy Research Forum on Feb. 27. The research forum promotes clinical research among students, faculty and community to foster and support evidence-based practice.

Six UF students represented The University of Findlay this month at the American Society of Animal Science meeting, Midwest section. More than 1,100 scientists attended the meeting, including two UF faculty members who also presented at the meeting.

Katie Kohls, a sophomore English major from Columbus Grove, Ohio, submitted an abstract and was selected from more than 4,000 submissions to present her original research on "The Great Gatsby" and surrealism at the National Council of Undergraduate Research Conference, April 3-5, at the University of Kentucky.
